After several disappointments, Spain has finally come to a point where they need to feel secure about their entry in the  Contest especially after managing to convince Pastora Soler to represent the country. The track that she performed with the title Quedaté Conmingo was an enormous hit all over the world. Juries went crazy over the live performance and it showed because at the end of the evening, Spain finished in tenth place, making it their first top ten placing since 2004 when Ramon had performed his track Para llenarme De Ti. When an artist succeeds, it gives them courage to try out something new and it seems that this has been one of the positive elements why talks with Pablo Alborán even began noting that the EMI Spain star is currently one of the most popular artists in the country.

RTVE were keen to get him on board due to his new found success with his debut album entitled Pablo Alborán charting at number #1 in Spain and achieving a 6x Platinum Disc. In the meantime, his label also released a live album entitled En Acústico which also managed to reach the top of the charts, but this time in Spain and Portugal, where it was also certified 6x Platinum and 5x Platinum respectively. Five singles have been released thus far, two of which have peaked at number #1, another two which have reached number #2 and the other one which could only manage number #40 due to a digital release only. RTVE is yet to go on record with this information but then again, the media seems to have gotten a hold of the story is making quite the rounds. The idea of having a successful male performer sing for the nation is truly endearing. One this is for sure that Spain is trying to pump their local traditional music back into the Eurovision Song Contest with the Latin Nominated Performer known for his sultry Spanish ballads.
